You and I have been on the same wavelength throughout this process. It sounds to me like you neglected to install the Notebook System Software. That, combined with the chipset software, is basically the driver for the motherboard, allowing it to properly see and communicate with all of the hardware in the system. This might explain why they go out when you disable the wireless card, although they should not.
